Ambrose (Danny Glover) is an experienced pig farmer, about to lose his farm for debt. He decides to cross the United States border with Mexico to sell his main pig for a high price. Traveling with the animal inside a van, he faces a series of difficulties that force him to resume ties with his daughter Eunice (Maya Rudolph). Little by little, the father begins to reveal the real motives of his trip and the sale of the pig.
